Composed of 34 precisely arranged mirrors, specialty glass, and structural axis rods and powered by 1080 individually mapped LED pixels, the 48″ Hyper Tesseract is the most advanced and labor-intensive expression of the series — a museum-grade flagship installation designed to command space with complexity, precision, and presence.
This work materializes an expanded dimensional system — effectively a Tesseract within a Tesseract — where additional internal axes generate a more intricate and layered field of recursion. Light propagates through a multi-plane structure, producing a denser, more complex infinite field that suggests movement beyond conventional spatial dimensions.
At 48 inches, the structure becomes fully architectural. The scale, combined with the expanded internal framework, allows light to travel farther and resolve across a greater number of surfaces with exceptional stability and clarity. The result is a deep, multi-layered dimensional environment that engages both visual perception and spatial awareness.
Created by Nicky Alice, the first and only artist to bring the Tesseract into physical form (first realized in 2018), each Hyper Tesseract is handcrafted using artist-developed, patent-pending mirror systems and specialty mirror glass engineered specifically for large-scale dimensional precision. The inclusion of axis rods and expanded mirror arrays significantly increases fabrication complexity, requiring substantially more time, control, and technical execution.
From the exterior, the work presents as a perfect cube — minimal and controlled. Internally, it unfolds into a layered dimensional architecture, where light behaves as both structure and medium, revealing a continuously expanding system of infinite recursion.
